Three burned in a restaurant when a drum with alcohol exploded while filling a fondue

three workers of a restaurant in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid) have been burned in a work accident due to the explosion of a can of alcohol while they were filling a lit fondue.

As they have explained from Emergencies 112 Community of Madrid, they received a notice around 3:30 p.m. various crews of the Summa 112.

Upon arrival they attended a 22-year-old man with second-degree burns in the back and left arm, which affected 10% of his body, and he was transferred to the La Paz Hospital.

As explained by the superior chief of Firefighters of the Community of Madrid, Ángel Sevillano, when recharging the lit fondue, the fire spread into the interior of the carafe that contained ethanol and has burst. The explosion caused liquid to shoot out of the young man’s back and the operator received burns on his hands.
