Four years after surgery on a strained vocal cord that forced Jon Bon Jovi to take a break from touring, the singer agrees to hit the road with Bon Jovi. “I’m fully recovered,” he recently told People magazine. “It took longer than I ever expected, but it had to be right. We never lost faith.”
Bon Jovi also found words of praise for his bandmates, whose patience he expressly appreciated. “They never doubted me and never looked for other jobs or decided to retire,” he told the magazine. “The sacrifices that each and every one of them made to be there for me is on a whole different level. They said, ‘No, we’re with you.’ They were with me every day of every rehearsal. My affection for them has only grown deeper.”
The singer told People that the break helped him “live in the present” – and that this more conscious presence made him feel more grateful: for his family, including his grandchildren, but also for chance encounters, such as when he plays tennis with strangers at his home in Palm Beach, Florida. Now he’s ready to open the Forever Tour with a residency at Madison Square Garden starting July 7. Later this summer, Bon Jovi is heading to the UK and Ireland.
A rebirth
“I think this is a rebirth,” Bon Jovi told People. “It’s simply about joy.”
Bon Jovi’s last major concert series ended in 2022, although the band played four more performances in 2024. Since then, only a few, mostly short sets have followed, and Jon Bon Jovi has occasionally appeared solo. The tour and Jon’s regained health finally allow the band to properly celebrate their 2024 album “Forever”.
“There is a lot of joy in this announcement – the joy of being able to share these evenings with our amazing fans and the joy that the band is back together,” Jon Bon Jovi said at the time. “I am lucky enough to be able to hold a light up to the audience every evening and stand in its reflection, for a tremendous shared experience – I get to stand in the WE of our concerts.”
