This will be the big crowd puller of GLOW

The organization expects that it will be the crowd puller of GLOW: the Grand Mix light show on Wilhelminaplein in Eindhoven. The light show by two French light artists attracts packed squares abroad. “I think they are the best in the world right now. They go around the world with this. As Eindhoven, we should not be left behind,” says a satisfied director of GLOW Ronald Ramakers.

During the light show you will see the faces of famous paintings. Those faces come to life on buildings. They sing well-known songs. The show is expected to get your feet moving. “We saw it during a festival in Lyon. I was immediately knocked over. We expect everyone to sing along. A sing-along.”

The work is by the artist duo Inook, consisting of Moetu Batlle and David Passegand. “These artists come from the film world. They make animations. You can pick up a painting and open your mouth, but that doesn’t seem like it. With them, figures come to life in a beautiful way. They are perfect at this.”

Brothers Philips
The centuries-old faces come from the collection of the Rijksmuseum, among others. “Think of the figures of the Night Watch. They sing modern songs. We also have a very nice dessert. After all, we are in Eindhoven. The Philips brothers sing The Sound of Silence at the end.”

Anton and Gerard Philips come back to life. Sergio Derks from Philips Erfgoed thinks it’s fantastic. “It’s a nice tribute. Without Gerard and his father Frederik, electric light would not have come to Eindhoven. They started the light bulb factory here in 1891. They laid a foundation, far away, for what we do now.”

“I like that you see Anton singing. He was someone with a lot of bravado and zest for life and who sang regularly, with piano accompaniment. You really bring history to life.”

GLOW can be seen from Saturday November 11 to Saturday November 18.
