The blaugrana club and Tottenham advance in a transfer on Lenglet of about 14 million euros

The institutional crisis of the English team has slowed down contacts somewhat but there is a good predisposition

Barça needs to achieve record income this summer in terms of sales to be able to solve their salary cap. The objective is to save wages and sales that can reach 150 million euros in the best of scenarios.

The sports area has been working for weeks on various scenarios and the first transfer is getting on track with Clement Lenglet. The left-handed central defender convinces Tottenham and a definitive sale of a footballer who will not enter into the entity’s future plans could be formalized.

Lenglet left last summer for Tottenham on loan without a purchase option. It was not an easy operation because the player’s salary had to be adjusted, but a favorable agreement was finally reached for all parties. The central defender, requested by former coach Antonio Conte, has performed at a very good level in the Premier and the London club is clear that, if the transfer is adjusted, a good operation can take place as long as the player gives the OK.

The two clubs are already talking to formalize a transfer of around 14 million euros. Barça already has a good part of its signing amortized, so it would be for the job of selling him and thus also saving an important token. There is a good predisposition between the two parties because, despite the departure of Conte, Tottenham’s internal reports on Lenglet are excellent on a personal and professional level. And the left-handed center-back market is very expensive, so finding a defender with his experience is difficult.

The institutional crisis that Tottenham is experiencing at the moment has somewhat paralyzed the operation. Antonio Conte resigned and they are looking for a new coach, while the club will also have to do without its sports director, Fabio Paraticci, sanctioned by FIFA for the open investigation of his years at Juventus. Tottenham need to change part of their structure, but it seems that the decision to continue counting on Lenglet is firm.

At Barça, the priority was not to extend his assignment any longer in order to get some financial gain with Lenglet. The absolute priority is to sell players who are not going to count for the sports project and in the club there is also a lot of optimism with Umtiti since they are in talks with clubs willing to pay for a transfer, even if it is minimal. There is a rush because for Barça it is very important to formalize this type of operation before June 30.
