Andy van der Meijde has been having conversations in the car for years with all kinds of Dutch celebrities, mainly B-stars, and it does quite well on YouTube. But on television? “It scores very lousy.”

The interview show at Andy in the car has been on the internet for years and years. Everything revolves around former footballer Andy van der Meijde who holds fairly superficial conversations with famous Dutch people. It is especially the intention that there is a nice laughter, but that often happens a bit forced. Anyway: it has now also found its way to the TV.

Lousy figures

Almost everyone has escaped, even TV authority Tina Nijkamp, but with Andy in the car, it is now also broadcast on Veronica. She writes on her analysis canal: “Hey, with Andy in the car started on TV. On Veronica. Last Friday already. At 10.30 pm. I had missed that for a moment. How does it score? Ehhh. Very lousy unfortunately for Andy.”

She continues: “13 June, the episode with Gordon: 27,000 viewers. Including postponed looking: 39,000. 20 June (this week) with Estelle Cruijff: 29,000 viewers. Well.”

Duohood with Goor

Getting Andy’s interview show to Veronica seems to be a prelude to the new program that he is going to make with Gordon. According to him, that new reality series, entitled Lieve Gordon and Andy, is ‘laughing, vultures, roaring’. Parool columnist Roelf Jan Duin is less enthusiastic and calls it cynically ‘hilarious aid television’.

He writes: “The format summarizes the position of the country and Van der Meijde fits like a glove. Because you can feel sorry for people at the bottom of society, you can get angry about the injustice that struck them, but of course you can also laugh about it.”
