Maybe you think to yourself, why should I count wasps somewhere between Saturday 16 to Sunday 24 August? It is not only a soothing work, you also help to gain insight into how the wasp position in the Netherlands is doing!
That’s how you participate
Choose a place somewhere and take a good look at what you see for 30 minutes. Try to find a varied area where there are also many bushes and trees nearby. Half an hour? Enter the results this form. On the form you also see all types of kites, so you always count the right type.

Spend the highest number of each species that you have seen at the same time. Example: you first see three lemonade wespes at the same time. Ten minutes later there are two again. Then you pass on: three lemonade wespes. By the way, you can count as often as you want, as long as you always start at 0.
Previous counts
The National Waspelelling has been organized since 2022. Last year, 679 people participated in the count and 15,735 yellow-black animals were noted. The most common was then the lemonade wesp. In 2023 and 2022, 1677 and 1895 wasps were counted by around 165 people respectively.
