Around 1 p.m. today, the first demonstrators gathered on Museumplein, one of three designated places in Amsterdam where the anti-immigration protest took place. At 2 p.m., the demonstrators took to their feet and marched through downtown.
Following the announced anti-immigration protest, Mayor Halsema decided to establish a safety risk area for parts of the center, including Stationsplein and Dam Square. This measure allowed the police to preventively search people in these places. Several arrests were made.
Counter-demonstration
In addition to the anti-immigration protest, a counter-demonstration was also organized today. At 12.30 pm, counter-demonstrators gathered at the Jonas Daniël Meijerplein to offer opposition.
