In the night from Monday to Tuesday, Parfumerie Ici Paris XL was broken into in De Weiert shopping center in Emmen. The perpetrator hit a gap in the emergency door of the store and took about 7,000 euros in perfume.
Branch manager Miranda van den Akerboom did not know what she saw when she opened the store yesterday morning. “I had just returned from vacation and I was surprised that the shelves were so empty.” It soon became apparent that there had been broken in. A large claw hammer was found in the hallway and there was a hole in the emergency door.
According to the branch manager, the perpetrator knew exactly what he came for and he was quickly outside again. “He only brought very popular men’s scents from specific brands. The burglar knew very well what he wanted.” In total, around 50 men’s perfumes were taken from the shelf.
Images of the burglary have been recorded on security images and have since been transferred to the police. “On the images you can see how he puts everything in a big bag and drags it behind him. It looked like Santa Claus,” says the branch manager.
The police are investigating the burglary.
