They fled with young daughter from Donbass and the hell of Butsha: “We will never forget the corpses we saw along the road” | Abroad

The Ukrainian couple Marina (34) and Evgeni (35) moved from the Donbass to Butja in 2017 to offer their daughter Diana (7) a normal childhood. Unfortunately, those plans were thoroughly disrupted by the Russian invasion of their country. Even though they were able to flee in time, the atrocities in their new home city remain burned into their minds. Marina tells their story about her Belgian residence near Ottignies, while her husband speaks to us from a liberated Boetsja with the light of his mobile phone as the only light source.
