These rock stars perform in Los Angeles with the Foo Fighters

Alanis Morissette, Miley Cyrus, along with members of Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more artists perform at the tribute concert for the late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins in Los Angeles. Hawkins died March 25 in Bogotá, Colombia at the age of 50.

The next gig will follow on September 27, 2022 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

Statement from the band and from his wife

When the two shows were announced, it said in a statement on the Foo Fighters website: “One of modern music’s most respected and loved personalities, Taylor’s distinctive talent and magnetic personality has delighted millions of fans, colleagues, friends and other music legends around the world. Millions of people mourned his passing on March 25, and both fans and musicians who adored Taylor paid passionate and sincere tributes to him.”

“The ‘Taylor Hawkins Tribute’ concerts will bring together some of these artists, the Hawkins family and of course his Foo Fighters brothers to celebrate Taylor’s memory and legacy as a global rock icon – his bandmates and inspirations performing the songs who he fell in love with and brought to life.”

Hawkins’ wife Alison Hawkins issued a statement to fans, expressing her gratitude for the support following her husband’s death: “My deepest gratitude and admiration goes out to the global Foo Fighters community and to Taylor’s fans far and wide for the love that has passed each and every one of you brought to our beloved Taylor,” she wrote. “Your kindness has been an invaluable comfort to my family and I at this time of unimaginable sorrow.”

“He loved life”

The Foo Fighters were touring South America when Hawkins passed away. The band then canceled their remaining concerts. They wanted to use the time to “rest” and “heal,” they explained. Musicians from all over the world quickly expressed their condolences. Liam Gallagher dedicated the song “Live Forever” to Hawkins on his tour, Elton John sang “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” for the late drummer and Pearl Jam also commemorated Hawkins during a performance. “He was someone who really loved living,” said Eddie Vedder. So at least you could say he never wasted moments. “He lived his life to the full.”
