Berlin’s district mayors write here once a week about topics that move them. Today: Maren Schellenberg (60, Greens), District Mayor of Steglitz-Zehlendorf.
The effects of the repeat election on February 12, 2023 can also be felt in our district. Politicians in particular are discussing possible changes in the political leadership.
It would have been good if the Constitutional Court had also commented on the consequences of a new election with different majorities, especially in the districts. This would have avoided a lot of uncertainty, especially in the administration.
But the administration of the district continues to work actively in all areas and events also take place as usual.
I would therefore like to draw your attention to a campaign in the outlying districts, in which, in addition to Steglitz-Zehlendorf, eight other districts outside of the S-Bahn ring – i.e. tariff zone B of the BVG – are also taking part: the “Ab ins B” campaign – a discovery tour.
With over 250 events, Berlin’s diversity outside the S-Bahn ring will be presented from March 25, 2023 to April 10, 2023 with an exciting and varied program. There is also a lot to discover in Steglitz-Zehlendorf or simply to visit again; whether it is the hunting lodge Grunewald, the museum village Düppel or the former women’s prison in Lichterfelde.
In Steglitz-Zehlendorf, 21 art, culture and educational institutions offer activities on a wide range of topics: designing Easter eggs in the garden of the Liebermann villa or exciting stories about the Waldemar ghost, which is said to haunt the Grunewald hunting lodge.

Head to the B – there is much to discover and explore.
