A car that rammed the facade of the town hall in Hoogeveen and a new session in the lawsuit around the Art Roof in the Drents Museum in Assen. That and more in this overview of the most important news from last week.
In the night from Sunday to Monday, a car rammed a building from the municipality on Raadhuisplein in Hoogeveen. The car then caught fire. The police picked up a 42-year-old man from Elim that night. He is suspected of arson and destruction.
The man has since been released again, but remains the suspect.
Since Tuesday, the archive of the Badan Persatuan has been public. That was the most important organization of Moluccans in the Netherlands. In the Drents Archief you can now view those pieces.
It concerns 761 pieces with a length of a total of 18 meters.
The artifices of the art robber at the Drents Museum were again in court in Assen on Wednesday. It was a second so-called Proforma session. The case has not yet been dealt with substantively.
“The main new proof that is presented are golden tracks in clothing and a sports bag, which they have dumped. According to the Public Prosecution Service, they transported the helmet and bracelets in it,” said reporter Stefan Klomp. The three main suspects – Douglas Chesley W., Bernhard Z. and Jan B. – all three are stuck.
Drenthe has been without a covered ice rink for ten years. Drenten who still want to skate should if it doesn’t freeze the provincial border. But that time is almost over, because Assen gets another skating rink. And that is also good news for Drenthe skating clubs, it became clear on Thursday.
The skating union finds such an ice rink an asset and secretly hopes for new Drenthe skating talents. Even though the tunnel ice rink is in principle intended for amateur skaters.
Buying something with the Meppelpas, that is no longer possible. The publisher of the pass and other local gift cards in the Netherlands is bankrupt. As a result, the credit on the passes in one fell swoop is worth nothing anymore. And they are disappointed in Meppel.
“A shit situation to explain it diagonally,” says entrepreneur Jeroen Vriend. “We have indeed had people from whom we had to refuse the payment.”
