Let’s hang out-program last week’s live broadcast had significant technical problems. The fourth production season of the gossip show started on TV1 on Saturday, January 10.

Iltalehti is told from Yle that the prompter used in filming the program broke down fifteen minutes before the start of the live broadcast. The program’s presenter Mervi Kallio and judge Matti Rönkä read their presentation text from the prompter, and the Saimaa band performing on the broadcast uses the prompter to support their performance.

The broken prompter could not be put back into operation, but was replaced with a spare device after the transmission had already lasted for some time. Mervi Kallio therefore had to give his opening speech almost entirely from memory, supported only by a small piece of fluff on the table. It was Kallio’s first broadcast Let’s hang out-as host.

– It is already stressful for a new presenter to start a new program live. Now he was put through quite a trial right away, the producer of the program Samu Reijonen laughs at Iltalehte by phone.

– We have scared a lot Let’s hang out– and The song of my life -show presenters that one day that prompter will break up live. It’s a shame, of course, that it happened here when Mervi was on his first day. But he handled it wonderfully and everything went well. Mervi and Matti are long-term professionals, we have strong trust in them, says Reijonen.

The same prompter has also been used The song of my life – in the program’s live broadcasts, where the device has played tricks before. Reijonen says that the production team thought that the defective device would have already been replaced with another one.

– We have given the technology side some feedback about this. Isn’t there a new device installed somewhere for next Saturday, that’s how much we talked about it.

The problems were hardly visible to the viewers. The live broadcast had been practiced a lot and Reijonen feels that Kallio was able to say his opening lines even more smoothly without the support of a prompter.

– If I remember correctly, there could have been some vagueness in the home game instructions. However, we have received cards, so there was nothing wrong with that either, says Reijonen.

Newly Let’s hang out– season saw the launch of a renewed home game, which is now played via postcards instead of the Yle application.

The Saimaa band that appeared on the broadcast also performed without the support of a prompter.

– We were excited about the first song, which was in Japanese, its words were not necessarily so easy to learn by heart. The music producer had given them the lyrics on a tablet, but that wasn’t a workable solution because there are so many soloists. They survived just fine too, pretty much pulled out after all, Reijonen describes.
