Tampere’s karaoke singers describe Jussi Hakulist as a genius.
Musician Jussi Hakulinen in memory, several of the man’s hits played on an August evening in Tampere – the most poignant are Swan Song and He danced with the angels.
“Those little pieces, I see in front of me, which I could never put in place. I already know how to be born and how to leave here. I just don’t know the most important thing, though.”
Ihku Hämeenkatu is a popular karaoke bar. Karaoke host of the evening, metal and punk singer Jami Airikka tunes with emotion to the sounds of Swan Song.
-Surely, at the end of the evening, the songs of Hakulinen and Yö will be playing, and they will be playing all evening and night, when Olli Lindholm too died. Jussi Hakulinen was a genius in his field, with great rhymes and melodic lines, Airikka says.
– Even though I’m not very close to his genre in my own music, I really appreciate it. Hats off, a talented man left too soon, says Jami with shining eyes.
Sari and Elastic are regular singers and are shocked by the musician’s death.
– He was my age, let’s get out of here quickly. The swan song is absolutely wonderful and touching, even though I sing lighter songs, says Sari, who won the karaoke competition.

A karaoke avalanche about Lindholm’s death
The boyfriend, baritone Kimmo, chimes in and says that he often sings the Swan Song. The nasty argument between Lindholm and Juss even touched when the former colleagues were facing each other.
– I remember the singer with respect and I appreciate his personal edge and skill in ear-pleasing tunes, Kimmo praises Ihku in the intensifying atmosphere.
Restaurant porter Vili Mikkonen was at the door of the neighboring restaurant Kaijaka when Olli Lindholm died in February 2019.
-Yes, in the evening and on the following days, the songs of the night will play. Certainly even today, Jussi Hakulinen’s production will ring in the darkening evening, Vili believes.

On Tuesday, the karaoke hostess of another Tampere karaoke bar, who also made it quite far in the Voice of Finland competition this year, was Claudia Da Conceicao.
– We have dozens of Yö songs on the lists and Joutsenlaulu is definitely the most popular. She danced with the angels is dramatic and touching, Claudia says and gives a sound sample of Swan Song.
