The strong wind forces the closure of four ski resorts in Catalonia

The strong wind that blew this Sunday in Catalonia has forced the closure four ski resorts in the middle of the high season for the practice of this sport. According to the portals ‘esquiades.com’ and ‘infonieve.es’, the stations have not been open to the public. Boí Taüll, Port del Comte, Vall de Núria and Vallter. The rest have been able to do so, although they have not been able to have all their clues available.

Boí Taüll has justified its decision to close this Sunday by “the strong wind and snow storm“, while Vallter has explained that by “security reasons” was forced to “close the access to the station.” The weather conditions of the next few hours will determine whether they have the possibility of reopening in the coming days.

Since Saturday, the Generalitat has activated several alerts for the adverse weather conditions. In the case of the wind it has activated the plan Ventcat because it is expected to be strong throughout Catalonia, with gusts that could exceed the 90 kilometers per hour. In the case of the Pyrenees, and especially on the northern slope, the Generalitat warns of the ‘torb’ phenomenon, a storm of snow, ice or hail of strong intensity that makes visibility very difficult.
