The song for “Amazonas Job”: Marteria releases “Forest”

Marteria released the song “Wald” on Wednesday (November 23), which was created as part of the documentary “The Amazonas Job”. With the documentary and the song, the rapper wants to draw attention to the Amazon rainforest in order to protect local flora and fauna. The documentary “The Amazonas Job” by Marteria and Plant for Future eV has been on YouTube since November 20th.

“Forest” was already performed on November 17th and 18th at the Rostock Volkstheater. The documentary was shown there, Marteria performed with the Norddeutsche Philharmonie Rostock and then a question and answer session was held. Now “Forest” also celebrated its premiere on YouTube and the streaming services.

For Marteria, the forest plays an important role in his life. “When I was in my early 20s, I spent every free minute in the forest. After shows, I go jogging or walking there to clear my head. Everything that otherwise stresses me falls away in seconds and I notice how the forest is talking to me,” he says.

Plant for Future eV has set itself the goal of “protecting our ecosystem and restoring areas of the earth that have already been devastated.” Therefore, Marteria traveled to Peru with some people in spring 2022. The area, which he knew primarily from his fishing trips, changed his view of nature: “After this experience, I started to deal with nature in a completely different way and understood for the first time how important the forest ecosystem is for us humans and the animals is. That’s exactly why I wanted to write a song about the feeling you get when you’re in the forest.”

In addition, Materia remembers the radio play “Der Traumzauberbaum” by Reinhard Lakomy and Monika Ehrhardt with the song and says: “As a child, the radio play regularly took me into a fantastic world – that’s exactly what I wanted to achieve with the song.” Rappers Nobody’s Face, Dead Rabbit, Sterio and BENDMA also collaborated on the song. There were also arrangements by the pianist Lillo Scrimali and the North German Philharmonic Rostock.

All proceeds from “Forest” and “The Amazonas Job” go to Plant for Future eV. Together they want to buy a few hectares of rainforest, which is also home to the poison dart frog. The rapper also christened him “Hansa-Frosch” because of the blue-red body color in reference to the club FC Hansa Rostock. Photographer and filmmaker Chris Schwarz recorded the documentary.
