Easter is just around the corner and with it the last chance to say goodbye to the season in style

With lengthening daylight hours and mild temperatures, the terraces on the slopes are the best complete for skiing

Spring is here. Daylight hours lengthen and the temperatures soften. Well, unfortunately for lovers of winter sports, the mercury has skyrocketed for too many days and on top of that it has also rained. Even so, the ski resorts are holding out in this final stretch that should take them to Easter to make the last descents.

The seasons that will not reach the end of the season are Vallter 2,000 and Port del Comte. The latter closes temporarily due to lack of snow and we will have to be attentive in case they can finally reopen. The other side of the coin are seasons like Baqueira Beret, which still has 65 to 115 centimeters of accumulated snow on its slopes. “It’s been a good season but unfortunately now it’s hot. Even so, in Baqueira Beret we will be open until April 10 with 100 kilometers of ski slopes. In fact, the weather forecast calls for snow starting next Sunday, so…”, explains Pep Albós, Baqueira-Beret’s marketing manager.

another station that faces this end of season with optimism is Grandvalira Resorts. “We are very motivated after the success of the World Cup Finals. We face this final stretch of the season with optimism because it looks like it could snow and knowing that Easter is one of the best times to come skiing in Grandvalira with our terraces, haute cuisine and top-level events such as the Grau Roig Snow Row, the Ham Extreme (3-star Freeride World Tour Qualifyer) in Ordino Arcalís and this weekend we have the Red Bull Home Run in Pal Arinsal”, points out David Ledesma, Marketing Director of Grandvalira Resorts.

Looking ahead to the next season, the forecasts are more optimistic: “After three years of La Niña, the change to El Niño should bring more snow next season,” says Enric Agut, presenter of El Tiempo on TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio.
