The Ship of Dreams: music and cinema at the National Library

“In 1995, a group of friends interested in the renewal that occurred in the Argentine audiovisual field in all its variants created a cultural management project that continues to this day.” The musical and cinephile cycle “The Ship of Dreams” celebrates its 27th anniversary, on Tuesday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m., in its classic space in the Mariano Moreno National Librarylocated in Aguero 2502.

In the Jorge Luis Borges Auditoriumwith free admission, the cultural proposal generated by Gabriel Patronwith the accompaniment of Daniela Pereyra and Noelia Gomez, celebrate with a musical and cinematographic encounter. The classic Tuesday afternoon meeting, over the years, was present in different spaces of the city. However, it was consolidated in the National Library, being the most valid headquarters in its history since 2008.

“The first function of 2006 in the Borges auditorium of the National Library, was attended by Leonard Favio. He helped us refound the Ship. That day we had thought about organizing the event there just to screen Favio’s unreleased short film, and in the end we ended up staying until now, with more than a thousand screenings every Tuesday”, recalls Patrono.

In this celebration will be released “The important thing is the journey. The beginnings of The Ship of Dreams”documentary of John Ignatius Sanchez produced by rambling. In which the beginnings of the cultural project will be reviewed: “A cluster of photographs are the trigger for an impromptu conversation between two of the pioneers of “The Ship of Dreams” and their curious quest to travel without knowing very well where to go or in which it goes”.

Among the most relevant cinematographic contributions of the cycle are the documentaries, produced by themselves,“Blues of the Leads”in which he plunges into the depths of an unknown fauna within the universe of rock, the testimonial “I was born for this” Y “The heavy of the doc”a set of original records from tours and concerts, intimate interviews and unpublished files, on the routes that offer a new reading of the Argentine musical legacy.

On the other hand, book publications “Latidos, the pulse of Argentine cinema”a journey through the different scenarios, genres, formats, stories, circuits of national cinema and photographic biography “The memory of the eyes: complete filmography of Leonardo Favio” were the graphic bets of the cultural project throughout the decades.

“In all these years, La Nave expanded its limits and generated projects in different cities of the country, established a bridge between generations of artists, and consecrated its experience with the creation of festivals, edition of publications, the making of documentaries, and the rescue of the valuable national cinema, always betting on the creation of cultural networks”, point out the coordinators of the space.
