The ruthless analysis after the Bochum embarrassment

The day after the next bankruptcy. At FC Bayern they are trying to bring some calm to the club.

Julian Buhl reports from Säbener Straße

Day one after FC Bayern’s embarrassing performance at VfL Bochum (2:3). At Säbener Straße, the record champions’ club complex, there was initially little happening in the early hours of the morning. Only gradually did media people, fans gather – and then a few players who drove up to the club grounds.

Manuel Neuer, for example, came together with Dayot Upamecano. Coach Thomas Tuchel had scheduled the regeneration session for 10:30 a.m., but the start was postponed slightly. However, back on the pitch: Alphonso Davies (intense ligament strain), who was able to train individually and with the ball again. Konrad Laimer (torn muscle fiber) was also there. Bouna Sarr (torn cruciate ligament) also completed an individual session a little later.

Captain Manuel Neuer trained indoors on the bicycle ergometer – and after the end of the regeneration session around 12.15 p.m., he made time for the fans on site when he left, signed autographs and took photos.

It is still unclear what will happen in the next few days. One thing is clear: Thomas Tuchel will probably be on the bench again in the top game against RB Leipzig next weekend. According to t-online information, an unscheduled meeting of the club bosses was not planned for Monday. Nevertheless, many conversations took place behind the scenes.

The motto at Bayern at the moment is: pull yourself together and carry on. The mistakes are analyzed ruthlessly and the focus is on Saturday’s game against Leipzig. At least until then, what Jan-Christian Dreesen said on Sunday evening immediately after the 3-2 defeat in Bochum remains valid: Tuchel will remain head coach and will also sit on the Bayern bench against Leipzig.

Tuchel appears determined and full of energy when analyzing errors. He is fighting for his job and resignation is considered impossible.
