The roof festival is starting on Saturday: all info at a glance

Get ready to literally discover the city from above. From Saturday 23 to Saturday 30 August is the Roofing Festival in Zoetermeer. That means that the city becomes one big festival, spread over several roofs.

The kick-off is on Saturday morning, August 23 at 11 am with a parade that starts on Stadhuisplein and ends at festival roof P9. Take your craziest hat or umbrella, because the theme is ‘nice headwear’.

Festival roof P9, also called ‘the nicest roof’, is the cultural center of the week. Think of workshops, performances, craft places, games and lots of fun. Every day there is a free cultural and sporty program. Take your own packed lunch and have a picnic with a view of the city. There are also drinks and snacks available for a fee. From historian to aerial platform

In addition to the main program on P9, there are also other roofs to visit:

• The highest roof
  Climb the tower of SnowWorld and enjoy the view from the Almhütte at about 80 meters. You are welcome every day from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday even until 8 p.m.
• The oldest roof
  The oldest roof can be found at Dorpsstraat 59. Climb the tower of the old church to the fifth floor for a unique look over the city center. The climb costs five euros per person. Register in advance for a place.
• Four color roof
  Discover the four colors on the green roof on the town hall. The excursion takes place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 4 p.m. A maximum of twenty people can participate at a time, so Register in advance.
• Roof
  On the largest roof in the city, the Stadshart, you will find the traveling expo The roof! About roof architecture. This exhibition can be visited daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Pop Up Expo room at Stadshuisplein 1.

Every day there are different highlights, such as nature lectures, puppet theater for the kids, circus workshops, mocktail bars, silent disco, music performances, outdoor cinema and even children’s cooking workshops. On Saturday, August 30, there will be a flourishing green inspiration market and that afternoon the Gemma Smid Architecture Prizes will also be awarded.
