The Roo brothers have the song Olde Jetta The first edition of the Songfestival Drenthe – Pop in ‘t Plat won.
After the voices of the professional jury, Dennis Hendriks was at the top, but the public votes were the deciding factor. Beau Veldkamp finally finished third.
“We were already super happy when we were second after the professional jury and then we thought: it can sometimes be exciting,” says Alfred de Roo. “We are super happy, mighty beautiful. It’s bizarre.”
The song Olde Jetta is about a vacation of 25 years ago, when the brothers went to Terschelling with their parents in an old Volkswagen Jetta.
The Roo brothers win a sum of 1000 euros and a cup. They also participate as a representative of Drenthe at the Songfestival region. The third edition of that event will be held on November 1 in Arnhem.
In total there were ten contenders tonight: the Roo, Gercoh brothers. & Schavuit, Silvia Fledderus, Skroetbalg, Annemiek Drenth, Martijje, Beau Veldkamp, Dennis Hendriks, Ferdy Doldersum and John & Nienke.
