The Rolling Stones: Will they get their first Brit Award?

It’s been eleven years since their last nomination – now they’re back on the list for the first time.

The Rolling Stones are nominated for the 2024 Brit Award in the “Alternative/Rock Act” category. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood once again have the chance to take home one of the coveted prizes. Although the rock band has been at the top of the musical world for a long time, they have not yet managed to secure any of the awards. Her last nomination to date was eleven years ago.

Nominated for the fourth time in almost 50 years

In 2013, the Stones had already been nominated for “Best British Live Act” – but the trophy was won by Coldplay. They were also nominated for the award for “Best British Band” in 1977 and for “Best British Video” in 1995, but had to return home without an award. In total, there are almost 50 years between the first and the current nomination. Maybe all good things come in fours after all, so they can soon expand their collection of awards.

Last year, The Rolling Stones enjoyed some success after releasing a studio album of new songs for the first time in 18 years. HACKNEY DIAMONDS not only reached number one in the charts in many countries, but was also the best-selling album of 2023 in Germany.

Strong competition for the Stones

At the Brit Awards, the rock legends have to compete against four other bands – including Blur, Bring Me The Horizon, Young Fathers and Yussef Dayes for the “Alternative/Rock Act”. However, we will only find out in a few weeks whether they are successful. The awarding of the Brit Awards 2024 will take place on March 2nd at the O2 Arena in London instead of.
