Tata Steel objected to both the amount of the penalty and the period given to the company to take measures to stop exceeding the standards. The provincial committee that handled the case saw no reason to reduce the amount of possible fines.
However, the period was doubled, from eight to sixteen weeks. This means that the penalty payments have been in force since April 15. According to the province, the environmental agency has carried out several measurements at the coking gas factories since that date. If it turns out that Tata Steel is still exceeding the standards, the company will have to pay.
