Keep to the speed limit, indicate direction when changing lanes and reduce speed in a dosed manner instead of braking hard. The Dutch consider themselves excellent drivers. This is evident from a research of MarketResponse on behalf of Univé. The Dutch give their own driving behavior an average of 7.6, while other road users should drive more politely.
The Dutch rate their own driving behavior with a big pass. More than 60 percent of the respondents give themselves an 8 or higher. Partners and parents of the interviewees also look good with averages of 7.6 and 7.2. Older drivers and men in particular are very satisfied with their own traffic participation. More than a quarter of the over-65s rate their own driving style with a 9.
Most respondents indicate that they are really doing well on the road. A large majority of these indicate that they always indicate the direction when changing lanes, switch gears in good time, keep to the speed limit and choose control instead of speed when cornering.
Other road users are doing less well
But if one looks at the driving behavior of fellow road users, the figure is slightly less positive. With an average rating of 6.6, there is still plenty of room for improvement. Most respondents believe that men in particular pose more danger on the road. In addition, they find that a young age and lack of driving experience increase the risk of unsafe traffic situations.
Do you also consider yourself a good driver, and what could be done better?
