The players cheered against their own team in the Swedish SHL

The players of Brynäs IF surprised with their behavior in Sweden.

Örebro lost the match to Brynäs 3–2. PDO

On Tuesday, the Swedish hockey league SHL experienced a situation that is rarely seen. Two players from Brynäs IF’s women’s team had headed towards the Örebro supporters with fan scarves around their necks to cheer on the away team – that is, against the club they represent.

During the match between Brynäs and Örebro, the TV cameras found two women in the pictures, who, after getting on the big screen, started cheering for the away team. One of them also pointed the middle finger at Brynäs supporters.

The two were later revealed to be Brynäs’s own players, and hoping for the defeat of one’s own organization was not considered good in the Gävle team.

Brynäs’ team published a press release about the special event, which tells about the temporary suspension of 16- and 17-year-old players. Through the names, the motivation for the rapture was revealed, as both of them are hockey players from Örebro. Aftonbladet reports that the punishments will last 2–4 weeks.

– If you represent Brynäs IF, we expect you to proudly wear our club’s logo and act professionally when you are here, club director Håkan Svedman commented in the announcement.
