The snowboard star of yesteryears Ueli Kestenholz died in an avalanche last weekend.

Reported about it Swiss Berner Zeitung. According to the newspaper, Kestenholz, 50, was skiing in the Lötschental valley together with another person when the avalanche started and took him away. Another person survived the situation with a scare, but Kestenholz died despite the rescue efforts.

Kestenholz won his Olympic bronze at the 1998 Nagano Winter Games in the snowboarding giant slalom. In addition, he won the Winter X Games twice.

After his racing career, Kestenholz continued skiing. He acted as a guide and teacher for other people who enjoyed the charm of skiing and other extreme sports.

Kestenholz last posted on social media on the day he died. In the last publication, he felt the newly fallen snow and advertised adventure trips to the Alps planned for February and March.
