A strange mix-up was seen at the World Athletics Championships on Saturday.

A special show took place in the men’s decathlon shot put. Puerto Rico Ayden Owens-Delerme visited the bowling alley for the second time, but no result was recorded in the statistics.

The athlete spread his arms and shook his head in disbelief. He protested the situation to the administrators.

– I want a result! I think it was 15.50, he told the TV cameras.

Due to the delay, Owens-Deleme’s push went to the area between the 14 and 16 meter lines. The Puerto Rican didn’t step over.

The other competitors also wondered about the officials’ actions.

Finally, the official picked up the measuring device and walked onto the field. The operation did not go well, because he measured several minutes from the wrong place. The first point measured was not even close to where the bullet fell based on the deceleration.

Finally, the right measurement location was found. The administrator moved from the side of the sector to the middle.

She was confused in Yle’s commentary booth.

– Now it’s time for an interesting lottery. I hope they’ve got the job done, expert Tuomas Raja said.

– It doesn’t seem to be, narrator Simo Leinonen would say

Owens-Delerme watched the measurement next to the officials with a frown. Finally, the result was on the board.

– I’ll take it! Owens-Delerme said.

The Puerto Rican’s push carried 14.97 meters. The result was apparently pleasant, as Owens-Delerme ran under the stands to shake hands with his coach.

The long measurement operation paid off, as it was the best quotation of the Puerto Rican series.

Owens-Delerme was tenth in the ball. He is third overall in the decathlon, with three disciplines behind him. There are 2,728 points.

He was fourth in the 100 meters and third in the long jump.

Owens-Delerme won the US University Championship in June. The World Cup decathlon continues at 2:10 Finnish time with the high jump.
