The man who drove to a closed rally route denied everything.

A man in his eighties caused a serious incident in the Tahko Rally in September 2023 by driving to a closed rally route during the race.

Now the Northern Savonia District Court sentenced him to conditional imprisonment.

The rally competition took place in the Nilsiä and Muuruvesi areas in Kuopio.

A man on his way home drove the rally on a closed road due to a special test. The traffic controller who was on the clip forbade the man to continue his journey. The man did not obey, but drove forward while pushing the traffic controller away.

Was recorded on video

During the trip, a rally car came against the man with a speed of 150-160 kilometers.

The cars met in the bend. Driven by the rally car Olli Miettinen managed to dodge a civilian car. The dangerous situation was recorded on a video shot by an outside.

All in all, the man drove the closed road for over a kilometer, after which he parked in his home yard.

First told about the dog

Tahko Rally Champion Tuomo Ahonen Iltalehti told Iltalehti immediately after the incident on September 9 that he had reached a man who had been on a closed road.

He had justified his act by the fact that the dog on the ride could not be kept in a hot car.

The dog was not mentioned in the written answer that the man provided to the Northern Savonia District Court.

In it, the man denied that he had pushed the traffic controller in his car or posed any danger.

The man said he had heard of a traffic controller’s radiocarket debate that rally cars would not be coming for the next ten minutes, during which he would have time to drive home.

The man denied having observed rally cars. He said he saw the first rally cars only in his yard. In his view, the civilian car shown in the video had to be someone else.

Conditional

The Northern Savonia District Court did not believe the man’s explanation, but condemned a man’s assault on the attempt and the danger of the man who was born in 1944 for the man’s assault.

The verdict was seven months for conditional imprisonment.

Wednesday’s judgment is not final.
