The Netherlands and Jordan dropped medical supplies and food near the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza on Sunday evening. Both countries carried out the operation with a C-130 transport aircraft. The goods are intended to replenish the supplies of the hospital that Jordan has been maintaining since 2009. Defense carries out the operation, the financing comes from the budget for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. The estimated cost of the operation is 1 million euros.

The Netherlands, together with other countries, is committed to more humanitarian aid for the civilian population in Gaza. Overland aid is the most effective way to get relief supplies to the scene on a large scale. But so far, access via national borders has been too limited. That is why this airdrop has now been chosen.

Jordan previously delivered several aerial shipments to alleviate the hospital’s dire situation. This time, the military aircraft carried out the operation jointly from an airfield in Jordan. The operation was coordinated with Israel.

The aircraft and their crews returned safely after the operation.
