The Mythical World of Tolkien

Writer JRR Tolkien created in his books The Hobbit and Under the spell of the ring an expansive mythical world full of Dwarves, Elves, Orcs and Hobbits, where all-out war threatens. Many generations have now devoured the books, yet Tolkien’s work was not immediately embraced by literature. How did Tolkien come to create the world in his books and what about the literary and scholarly recognition of the novels?
