The P+R places, which are all located on the outskirts of the city, seem to be a way to promote the reduction of traffic on the road in the city. Now 202 places on Zeeburg will disappear due to the construction of the new Baaibuurt West urban district.

Motorists are surprised by the closure. “I wanted to park, but they are closed,” said a surprised driver. “I was standing at the entrance and there was a sign saying I wasn’t allowed in.” Anyone crossing the Zuiderzeeweg can still park at Zeeburg 2, one of the eleven remaining P+Rs in the city.

Also fewer places in North

In Noord, parking spaces will also disappear at P+R Noord, near the metro station. The total will increase from 440 places to 220 in 2026. An electricity station must be built and when construction is completed, the number will increase to 300. So considerably less than now.

And so motorists in the North are also unpleasantly surprised. “I would find that a great shame, because it would make it impossible for me to park here,” says a motorist. A woman who has parked her car and is on her way to the station is also disappointed: “If there are no more spaces here, I will either have to go to another P+R that will probably fill up much faster. Or I will have to take the public transport and that is not very well arranged for me.”
