“The most difficult assignment ever”: this was the best part of ‘The Voice Kids’ | showbiz

TV‘Knockouts’ were sung for the second time in ‘The Voice Kids’ on Friday. Each team pitted three tough kids against each other to advance to the next round. And those threesomes had been well thought out.

For example, coach Metejoor put together three candidates who play an instrument, team Duncan provided a knockout brimming with good vibes and coach Laura pitted three strong pop stars against each other. Team K3 then provided a ‘swifties knockout’, full of songs by Taylor Swift.

Candidates Lola (13, Nieuwmunster), Finn (14, Sint-Niklaas) and Ayco (11, Ekeren) competed against each other for team Duncan. “They all have a unique but positive energy and above all a lot of good vibes,” the coach explained his choice. Finn was allowed to try ‘This is The Life’ by Amy McDonald, but in a completely different jacket. The song was translated into French especially for her, although that didn’t make it any easier. “They are real tongue twisters. We gave her the most difficult assignment ever in ‘The Voice Kids’”, said coach Duncan.

In team Laura Marit (9, Bruges), Jan Alexander (12, Ghent) and Solara (10, Nieuwerkerken) competed against each other. Jan Alexander, aka JAP, was allowed to show his rap talent again. He performed ‘Alright’ by Kendrick Lamar. “The lyrics sometimes had to be adjusted a bit”, laughed coach Laura in advance. A necessary adjustment, so that the number would remain child-friendly. During JAP’s performance, things went wrong for a while, but the young rapper managed to recover quickly.

Gaëlle (14, Ypres), Eloïse (10, Zedelgem) and Naomi (13, Zaventem) faced each other during their knockout for team K3, themed Taylor Swift. “You are our swifties”, laughed coaches Julia, Hanne and Marthe. Naomi took care of the country vibes with the song ‘Red’ and made a deep impression on the coaches.

Metejoor had Louis (13, Oostkamp), Elise (14, Hove) and Jinthe (12, Melsele) compete against each other. The latter may look cute, but she showed her roughest side on stage. She also performed a real rock song about heartbreak: ‘Weak As I Am’ by Skunk Anansie.

‘The Voice Kids’, Friday at 8.35 pm on VTM and VTM GO
