The look of the season: maxi dresses for everyone

Spoiler alert: the season started sunsets, terraces and thanks to the Universe. Instagram says that there are many people blessed by a summer determined to forget the pandemic and embrace a fiction illuminated by the best filters. “Blessed”, some blogger would say dragging her maxi dress by white sands.

A few days ago the season of Punta del Este opened with that party where you have to be. The event took place in Las Piedras, more precisely in the Hotel Fasano. There the new lots, villas, farms were presented and the inauguration of an international airport for owners and visitors was announced, while the chef Agustín Mallmann, Francis’s nephew and adored by the tin “tout”, he threw magic with his dishes. However, there was another kitchen and there the fires were vibrating loudly.

Jorge Brito, brand new President of the River Plate Atlético Club and his partner, Gabriela Vaca, wrapped in a silk dress with an “arty” print, were greeted by the hosts: polo player Nacho Figueras and his wife, businesswoman, photographer and socialite Delfina Blaquier , entrepreneurship ambassadors. Both wore “outfits” of a quasi angelic white. Beyond that, the influencer Angie Landaburu with her husband Tomás Eurnekian, a media entrepreneur, made an impact with an unexpected overlap of garments by these Pampas, but very common in international streetstyle: dress superimposed on white shorts, accompanied by towering boots. The City Government advisor, Paz Dubarry, was haranguing the fun and among the ruffles that caressed her ankles she wore enviable legs. Let’s talk about what matters, the belonging, the power, the thread? No gentlemen, the clothes.

What is used

If four powerful people get together, a multimedia is born. If 4 celebrities gather, a trend is born. All the women who attend the Esteñas parties have a common denominator as a flag: the maxi dress. There is no crack, time of day or weather forecast that prevents them from twinning. The long dress is to this summer what the white smock was to the public school.

They all use it: embroidered, in neutral colors, overflowing with flowers or in a rocker version. It is enough to go through the networks of our celebrities to verify it: from Pampita to Paula Chaves, passing through Natalia Oreiro, who posts in Spanish and Russian always with charm, sympathy and some goat for friendly brands. This year the one that does not dare to long maxi, is out of the game.

All you have to do is enter the Zara app to check it out. The site exploded with visits for its famous Offers (or not so much, because in the dresses category the average is close to 8000 pesos, when last summer clothes could be obtained for 2000) offers to filter by size, color and length. The maxi models are the rage and the number of alternatives arouses the desire of even the most staunch lovers of the mini. If not what Evangelina Boleggi says, influencer with more than 135,000 followers, tireless observer of fashion. Evangelina is a public accountant but a few years ago she built a community in networks where she tells her public Natalia Oreiro Pampita Ardohain Paula Chaves how she lives trends. “I am one of those who chose the maxi dress before it was a trend because it is ‘the’ wild card”, she says and gives the keys of her choice: “It has several qualities: it is a one-piece garment, therefore you don’t have to think much about the combinations. You save time when dressing, especially in summer with this tremendous heat, it is a very noble garment and for all women. Because there are options for any body morphology. When the repetition of a look in different accounts is evident, ranging from friends to influencers, magazines, brands or celebrities, the trend impresses and they go for it ”.

We cannot deny that the networks light the wick of desire, the “50 Shades of Consumption” light up as soon as we see how well an ankle-length dress looks. But the popular myth says that the maxi is only for tall and skinny. Will be? Boleggi responds: “I don’t believe in myths, I have to try and draw my own conclusions. I am 1.60 tall, I do not consider myself a skinny woman but an average person. I was always a lover of long dresses despite the fact that many fashion consultants told me that with my height the maxi was not what benefited me the most. For me they are wrong, the ‘don’t wear it’ is canceled ”.

Evangelina shares her maxims “I wear them with heels, boots, sandals, low shoes or sneakers. As for summer colors, I am very much into choosing light and neutral colors, I also add a tone of trend that I love or a stamp that explodes. Depending on the accessories you wear, a maxi dress can be worn for a whole day. Another option is the long kimono that with a good belt is transformed into a regal dress. The kimono is the key garment for the beach, the pre, the after, the disco … or the super ”.

Whoever stays at home with blessed 35 degrees, can always adhere to the last option. It is possible to belong even in the supermarket. The dress will be maxi as the prices on the gondolas or it will not be.
