The arrest of Matteo Messina Denaro, which took place on 16 January 2023 after being on the run for thirty years, is at the center of a Rai miniseries; the point of view is that of Lucio Gambera (Lino Guanciale), colonel of the ROS of the Carabinieri of Palermo who, after several failures, is tasked with making one last attempt before his team is dismantled.
The invisible – The capture of Matteo Messina Moneybroadcast for two consecutive evenings on RaiUno and now available on RaiPlaytakes up the canons of the “civilian” fiction of the nineties (directed by Michele Soavi and produced by Pietro Valsecchi, two who reinvented the genre on Mediaset in the golden age of Taodue), with the lone hero forced into a race against time to capture the dangerous boss and re-establish the primacy of good over evil.

Gambera’s investigative activity is full of ups and downs, moments of despair and twists in which the investigation takes the right turn. The series opens with a reference to the Via dei Georgofili massacre in Florence in 1993the cruelest moment of the mafia’s attack on the state; these operations are also precious memory tools and antidotes against the rewriting of the past.
