26-year-old Mangione is suspected of being the CEO of United Healthcare by Brian Thompson of murder. Thompson was shot last Wednesday in New York in broad daylight outside a Manhattan hotel.
Mangione’s escape ended Monday at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, shortly after someone who recognized him reported the sighting to police.
According to authorities, Mangione was found in possession of the same gun used to kill Thompson. He also had a silencer, a mask similar to the one used by Thompson’s shooter, $10,000 in cash, and fake IDs.
One of the fake IDs matched the identity the suspected shooter had used to check into a New York hostel about a week before Thompson was killed.
Mangione also found a manifesto criticizing companies for putting profits before care.
