The year 2025 runs like in a dream for art gymnast Karina Schönmaier. After double gold at the European Championships, she now secured the German championship title in all -around.

Born in Bremen, who trains at the federal base in Chemnitz, had already brought gold on the jump last year. As part of the finals in Dresden, the 19-year-old once again demonstrated her great potential on Friday (01.08.2025) and also won the all-round competition for the first time.

Clear lead for Schönmaier

Schönmaier came to 53.150 points after four exercises and thus prevailed clearly ahead of Lea Wartmann (50,800 points) and Jessica Schlegel (49.400), who had just pushed Jesenia Schäfer off the podium in the last exercise.

Lisa Wötzel is experiencing a bitter competition. Before the last exercise on the ground, she was still on a medal course before landing after a somersault when landing and apparently injuring her foot.

Schönmaier gives hope in front of the World Cup

Schönmaier’s star opened at the European Championship in Leipzig at the end of May when she had won gold on the jump and in the mixed team with the freshly baked all-round master Timo Eder. After the end of the career of record champion Elisabeth Seitz and the injury -related failure of Helen Kevric, she goes as a great German hope among women in the World Championships in October in Indonesia.

Three days before her 20th birthday, Schönmaier fed her favorite role in Dresden right from the start. Already after the first rotation and her exercise on the uneven bars, she held the lead and subsequently expanded it on the jump. Even by two small wobblers on the balance beam, she did not let herself get out of the concept. Even before the last exercise, her lead over the second -placed Wartmann was considerable. Thanks to a successful performance on the ground (12,850), the title was no longer in danger.
