This activity gave me the opportunity to interact with people in various industries, of all ages and at different stages of their property/family life. From those conversations I rescue what I believe are the most determining variables of our quality of professional life (and personal by spill): what we do, where and with whom we do it, and the balance with our personal life.

There is no news so far, but perhaps it will be an opportunity for you to review how you are doing in each of these areas and see if there is anything to adjust. Or in the worst case, to give a name to the low mood on Sundays and define What are you willing to do to stop suffering during the week?.

Confucius said “choose a job you like and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Barbarian, now Confucius reincarnates in Aladdin genie mode and asks you to choose what to dedicate your professional life to, as he takes care of your expenses for 5 years. Goodbye prepaid, gasoline, supermarket and all the rest; it’s solved. So What would you do if you didn’t have to worry about money?

At the extremes, your job can be a weekend separator or that activity that challenges you, invites you to grow and that also has a positive impact on others; The economic matters, but it is secondary. If you had the luck or merit to find that activity and, even more, you managed to dedicate yourself to that, you have a huge advantage; you work with another voltage. You have a different energy because you enjoy what you do and you get less tired, or with a sense of purpose.

Now, that’s not the end of the story. Even if you start Monday with all the enthusiasm, it may be that by midday you begin to feel the wear and tear of a work team that does not support you, of a leader who does not empower you, or of a company in which it is difficult for you to be in. Definitely, If the context in which you carry out that activity is not the right one, you will feel the friction, and it can reach such a point that not even the enjoyment of your work compensates for it.

If the latter does not happen to you, you have an incredible work reality: you are surrounded by people with whom you grow and learn, with healthy leadership that empowers and challenges you, within a company of which you feel part or in an independent project. What did you dream of. But I have to make you uncomfortable again When was the last time you took time for yourself? To go to a doctor, to a family event, or simply cut time to play sports or join a meeting.

He “risk“What you face in this scenario is not knowing (or not wanting to) cut off from work and having it eat into your personal agenda. If work is something so central to your life, what space is there for everything else? Couple , health, leisure, family, everything remains in the background. It is perfect if it is a conscious decision, but many times it is not and you cannot live your 20s, 30s or 40s again at 50.

I hope that these questions have helped you review how you come from and if it is not where or how you would like to be, that you can take action on that. There are no magic recipes, but there is a “key ingredient” that will make it easier for you to make any decision. The money (if it works for you) it gives you the opportunity to reinvent yourself professionally, dedicate yourself to a vocational project, or to better balance work and personal life; It is the most versatile tool there is. Use it.
