From tomorrow, music fans will celebrate again at the Hurricane Festival. However, a familiar problem comes up again on the arrival day of the major event in Scheeßel between Hamburg and Bremen.
Innovations at Hurricane
Recurring visitors: inside indicate a “dust year”. If there is rain around the festival, the clay floor is dry. As soon as tens of thousands of fans arrive and dance on site, the floor whirls up dust. The other alternative is a muddy terrain. Possible solutions made the hurricane stations not announced.
For this, Head of Inga Rossbach referred to other innovations: “The sewage system we have relocated in the Infield is ready, we are currently rinsing and pumping so that the entire capacity of 165 cubic meters is available,” said the boss in Conversation with “Kreiszeitung.de”. “There is also an additional pressure line that can pump 110 cubic meters of water per hour.”
Dust binding machines back
Critical voices point out that this costs lawn – and thus contribute again to dust. “We were able to get a lot of turf, only a gravel mixture is applied in the main strands,” said Hurricane director Rossbach. “We no longer have sown there, that would be unrealistic during the dry season. That comes after the festival. With the mix of gravel and the existing lawn, we are well positioned – the dust through the sandbahn of the MSC Eichenring, which we keep making, is simply part of the hurricane! At neuralgic points we are putting down staubin machines again, i.e. a kind of snow canon.”
The Hurricane Festival and its southern German counterpart Southside start their main musical program on June 20 tomorrow. After that, there is a celebration until Sunday, June 22nd. Today on Thursday is the day of arrival, but there will be the first program from 6 p.m. Headliners include Green Day, SDP, AnnenMayKantereit, Rise Against, Apache 207 and The Prodigy.
