The Crown 5 jewels: Elizabeth II’s tiara

In The Crown 5 there is however a great display of jewels, especially by Lady Diana. Let’s start, however, with the Belgian sapphire tiara that belonged to Queen Elizabeth who passed away on 8 September. The sovereign was fond of this 19th century diadem. She had bought it herself to match it with a set of sapphires received as a gift from her father, George VI, for her marriage to Prince Philip. It belonged to Louise of Belgium. Elizabeth II combined it with a brooch that the Queen Victoria had received as a wedding gift from her husband Alberto.

The Girls Great Britain and Ireland tiara

The other tiara you see in The Crown 5 is the tiara Girls Great Britain and Ireland. It is a tiara received as a gift by Elizabeth II from her grandmother Mary to whom it was given as a wedding gift in 1893. It was purchased by Lady Eva Greville who will later become one of the Queen’s ladies-in-waiting. The jewel has appeared over the years in British banknotes and coins.

Lady Diana’s lover’s Knot tiara

Among the jewels of The Crown 5 also the very famous Lover’s Knot tiara of Lady Diana. Today the jewels of the Princess of Wales have been divided by Harry and William and, as we know, they are worn by Kate Middleton (she went to the pharaonic engagement ring valued today around 390 thousand pounds) and the Cartier watch worn by Meghan Markle . Lover’s Knot Tiara was seen on Kate Middleton.

Fascinating history: was commissioned to the crown jeweler, Garrard and Company, in 1913, it is made with diamonds and pearls set in gold and silver. Elizabeth II gave it to Lady Diana.

Apparently Lady D also collaborated with the Crown Jeweler, Garrard and Company, to have a custom made diamond and pearl necklace that he exhibited in his last public appearance at the Royal Albert Hall on 3 December 1997 for the staging of the Swan Lake.
