Allbirds slides deeper into the red in the third quarter

The US shoe and clothing retailer Allbirds Inc. once again increased its sales significantly in the third quarter of the 2022 financial year. However, the loss was significantly higher than in the same period last year. This emerges from an interim report published by the company on Tuesday.

Accordingly, sales in the period from July to September reached a level of 72.7 million US dollars (73.0 million euros), exceeding the level of the same quarter last year by 15.9 percent. Earnings were impacted by expenses for restructuring measures, higher logistics costs and negative currency effects. The reported net loss, which had been 13.8 million US dollars in the same period last year, rose by 82.9 percent to 25.2 million US dollars (25.4 million euros). Adjusted for special effects, the deficit grew by 62.3 percent to 22.4 million US dollars.

In the first nine months of the current year, Allbirds achieved sales of 213.6 million US dollars, which corresponded to an increase of 18.5 percent over the corresponding level in the previous year. However, the net loss more than doubled, rising from $34.9 million to $76.5 million.

Given the numbers, management confirmed its full-year guidance for 2022. So it still expects revenue in the range of $305 to $315 million and adjusted for loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of between 37.5 and 42 $.5 million.
