The death certificate issued by the Los Angeles County Department of Health, which was initially published by TMZ, names “respiratory arrest” as the primary cause of death, whereby sepsis and inflammation of the blow are given as contributors.

In addition to respiratory arrest, sepsis and inflammation of the bladder, the autopsy showed that Wilson suffered from several other health problems at the time of his death. Including obstructive sleep apnea, chronic kidney disease, chronic respiratory failure and a neurodegenerative disease. In February 2024, Wilson’s family made public that the singer suffered from dementia.
Reactions to Wilson’s death
At the time of Wilson’s death on June 11th, his family initially called no cause of death. “We are inconsolable to have to announce the death of our beloved father Brian Wilson. We are missing the words at the moment,” the family wrote in an explanation. “Please respect our privacy during this period of grief. We are aware that we share our grief with the world.”
“The world mourns a genius today. And we mourn the loss of our cousin, our friend and our partner in a great musical adventure,” explained the Beach Boys in a statement.
