“The allegations hit us all very hard”

Rammstein released a new statement on Saturday (June 3rd) addressing the allegations of (sexual) abuse against the band. So far, the statement has only been available on their website – not (yet) on social media, where posts could be commented on:

“The publications of the last few days have caused irritation and questions among the public and especially among our fans. The allegations hit us all very hard and we take them extremely seriously. We say to our fans: It is important to us that you feel comfortable and safe at our shows – in front of and behind the stage. We condemn any kind of transgression and ask you: Do not engage in public prejudice of any kind towards those who have made allegations. You have a right to your point of view. But we, the band, also have a right – namely not to be prejudiced either.”

The band strikes an almost sentimental tone, which is in stark contrast to the first post (Whitsun Monday), in which it said succinctly: “Regarding the allegations about Vilnius circulating on the net, we can rule out that anything is being asserted in our environment has happened. We are not aware of any official investigation into this.”

Apparently, Rammstein is now noticing the pressure that has arisen in the course of research and reporting surrounding allegations of abusive behavior against the Rammstein camp. Till Lindemann’s publishing house Kiepenheuer & Witsch has ended its collaboration with the singer, with reference to his porn video. In addition, there are more and more reports from “Row Zero” women who are said to have been badly treated by the band camp, some are said to have even been abused.

According to the statement, the band now criticizes “irritations, especially among our fans”. It remains to be seen how “seriously” the band in particular takes the allegations – in any case, “everyone” in the Rammstein camp is “very affected”. One also wishes not to be prejudiced. The entry is titled “Announcement from the Band”. A suggestion: Why doesn’t Till Lindemann comment on the allegations himself?
