Kings of Leon had originally planned to start the summer with headlining shows and performances at festivals across Europe. However, the tour, which will start in Paris on June 10 and should continue with a appearance in Portugal until July 12th, has now been canceled. Because front man Caleb Followill had suffered a foot injury that prevents him from performing with full strength.
Foot injury from Caleb Followill forces band to cancel
“I broke my foot while playing with my children. I save you the details. But it was pretty bad,” said Followill in a video published on Instagram. “It’s a shame, because we were looking forward to it and prepared for this tour for a long time.” The musician revealed that the band had planned to present new songs at the now canceled concerts. And added: “We were in the studio and recorded a lot of new songs that we wanted to play for for the first time.”
Studio work before the tour
Followay had to be operated on because of his injury, which smashed his heel leg. The recovery period is about eight weeks. Kings of Leon will nevertheless appear in North America as planned in July, where they will appear as headliners for two evenings in the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A number of festival appearances will follow in August and September.
In the meantime, you will concentrate on refining the songs on which you have worked. “Now we have to reorient ourselves. And do everything we can as long as I have these restrictions,” said Followill. “This is not the message that I want to convey. But hopefully we will all see each other again soon.”
Creative control as a guiding principle
The last album by Kings of Leon, Can we please have funappeared in May 2024. “We found that the more control we have over all aspects of the creative process, the more authentic the experience for us and the fans,” Jared Followill told back then Rolling Stone About the album. “We love to see the reactions of the people and their personal interpretations of the songs. But in the end nobody knows better than ourselves what these songs mean. And how they should be brought to life. This album is our baby. We want it to be presented as we have imagined when writing and taking up.”
