After the employment of Niko Kovač, BVB is still looking for a way out of the crisis. In the event of discharge in summer, the club would have to dig into its pocket.

Niko Kovač has been training the crisis -shaken BVB since the beginning of February. However, his balance sheet with the Dortmunders has been mixed. In eight games under the new coach in the Bundesliga and Champions League, the Borussia celebrated three victories, won two draws and had to swallow three defeats.

With tenth place in the Bundesliga and six points behind Europa-League-Platz five and seven points behind Champions League-Platz Vier, the season goals are further in acute danger. If the club missed European business, it would be a difficult financial blow.

In such a case, there would be big question mark behind the future of Kovač as a BVB coach-despite the contract until 2026. As the TV station Sky now reports, the association should not have an option to dissolve the contract early. If the Kovač BVB wants to separate, a severance payment must be paid.

According to the report, there is a severance payment regulation, according to which a separation from Kovač, including assistant coaches, would cost BVB around three million euros. If BVB misses international business, Kovač alone would have a severance payment of 50 percent of its basic salary. This is said to be three to four million euros – more than predecessor Nuri Şahin.

Şahin, who actually had a contract until 2027, must currently continue to be paid by BVB as well as the technical director Sven Mislintat.

As the “Bild” newspaper and Sky report, Kovač should do everything possible to secure his job and have a day after the Augsburg bankruptcy (0: 1) the BVB professionals in a 30-minute address. BVB bosses Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl are also said to have been on site.

Kovač is said to have announced that they also saw up big names if necessary. According to “Bild”, Julian Brandt and Jamie Gitten should be affected. In addition, Kovač is said to have imposed several fines against individual players in front of the entire team. The reason should be violations of the existing punishment catalog. After the session, he is said to have sent the regular players to the pitch for a few rounds.
