According to RTL reporter Felix Görner, the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia has shown one thing above all: Three F1 stars are immensely employed with the “enemy in his own head”, as the F1 expert described it for Sport.de. Which well -known trio this is is in Görner’s column:

How important in Formula 1 In addition to driving skills the mental side is, the Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia was well recognized. There, three drivers had to struggle with the enemy in their own head, who saved you from calling up the actual performance.

Above all, McLaren-Pilot Lando Norris, who deals very, very, very openly with his mistakes, his doubts and his dissatisfaction, but does not let up with this procedure. A trainer would advise against this openness to speak about his self -doubt and his inadequacies. The motto must be: Remember calmly and quietly to yourself, focus on yourself!

Norris cannot call up all of his potential because he constantly goes into a spiral and talks himself down. That was the case on Saturday after the qualifying crash. It will not be successful with this way of driving on the top of the world, which is very clear. Because he has a person who rests in himself next to himself who does not constantly roll into self -doubt: Oscar Piatri.

The Australian is mentally stronger. He does not have the enemy in his own head. He is balanced and has no evil voices in his head. He is sure that he delivers the best and, above all, he talks strongly than weak.

Felix Görner has been RTL reporter and Formula 1 expert for years

So Lando Norris will lose this duel and thus also the World Cup. He’s noticing that right now. And therefore he will have to change from the approach. The top of the world is so thin, so cold and at icy heights that the smallest weakness is exploited there and move away. This was seen in qualifying: a small mistake by the British was enough to ultimately no longer be able to win the race.

At Ferrari there are “all disappointed” by Hamilton

The second who has to do with the enemy in his own head is Lewis Hamilton. He also questions himself in a drastic way, as we know it. He shows himself doubtful.

This means that Ferrari – with team boss Fred Vasseur was feeling good – is very thin -skinned when it comes to the Causa Hamilton. You can tell that everyone is disappointed that Hamilton falls behind Charles Leclerc and so clearly behind his own expectations that he takes so long to get his performance scenite.

Vasseur is as dunn -skinned as a wafer -tender ice plate that breaks immediately. After the race in Saudi Arabia, this was more than obvious. It almost bordered on truth about truth, what Vasseur did when he was asked about Hamilton. The quotes were in the room, they came from Hamilton himself: that he has no fun, that he is not good, that the car is much better, which was read about Leclerc’s result. There is a lot.

We already know these characteristics from Lewis Hamilton from the past few years. Whenever he has not caught with the car or was dissatisfied with it, like Lando Norris, he also goes to a downward spiral. However, this does not lead to an increase in performance. So that means: the topic of Hamilton will keep us busy because we have only five races behind us and the season is so long that it urgently still has to hit.

Red Bull Racing does not get the problems under control

The third who has to struggle with the enemy in his own head is Yuki Tsunoda. We see: As soon as it is about calling up, he has to get performance, that he has to deliver, like in qualifying, where he was almost a second slower than Verstappen, he has the biggest problems. He then puts himself under pressure to get close to the reigning world champion that he is currently breaking it.

We see that Red Bull Racing is simply not getting the problem with the second driver under control. Liam Lawson is exchanged, but has also had problems getting up to the Racing Bulls, and you have also been able to watch again in Saudi Arabia. And Red Bull Racing remains a one-man team. But that’s not enough to get the designer World Cup.

The big question: Who is doing this seat, who manages to permanently perform in addition to Verstappen?

Sergio Pérez, who had been scolded again and again, was one of the few who did the best in the past. But “Checo” currently rests in the Mexican sun and does not think about getting back into the cockpit. So the problem continues.

While “the enemy in your own head” was really blatant on this race weekend, we are already looking forward to the next race in Miami. For the time being, it looks like a duel between Piatri and Verstappen. This is exciting to see, especially since Norris and Piatri will make life difficult for each other and the laughing third could be the Red Bull man at the end.
