Terzic believes BVB will stay: “Always showed a completely different face in the second half of the season”

Disillusionment in the TM community

Edin Terzic apparently has no doubts about remaining as coach of Borussia Dortmund despite his team’s ongoing decline. “Of course I believe in it,” he replied after the disappointing 1:1 (1:1) against FSV Mainz when asked whether he expected to still be BVB coach in the new year. The Black and Yellows have now been without a win for six competitive games.

Terzic was similarly combative on “Sat.1” after the final whistle of the game, which was accompanied by whistles: “I have signed a contract until 2025, and in doing so I have documented how much and how long I would like to stay at this club,” emphasized 41 year old. With a serious expression he added: “How long I am here is not up to me. Of course, the leadership and the result decide that. And the results in the last few weeks just haven’t been good, we know that.” From 103 games, he has an average of 1.94 points in his balance sheet, but this season he is significantly lower with an average of 1.76 points.

According to reports, the club bosses want to carry out their regular analysis of the season so far before Christmas. An assessment of the trainer’s work should also be carried out. Sports director Sebastian Kehl and managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke did not comment on the situation on Tuesday evening. Terzic on “Sky” about the upcoming conversation with the bosses: “We have a lot of issues, we know that. These are themes that repeat themselves and have been with us for a long time. That’s what we always do: we meet after the season and during breaks, and we discuss things openly and honestly.” Media reports about an alleged “player rebellion” against Terzic had already caused additional explosiveness before the game.

Terzic referred to similarly critical situations in the past, when he had rescued the team from an unfortunate situation and led them to a cup victory and another time almost to a championship. “It’s part of my history at Borussia that we always showed a completely different face in the second half of the season. Almost two years ago and especially at the end of last season. “That is the clear task for the team, that we get it done again,” Terzic emphasized, adding that he knew “the responsibility I have and the size of the club. And if the results aren’t right, how unsettling it can get. That is exactly the task that I have to accomplish.”

BVB captain Can partly defends Terzic – disillusionment in the TM community

Captain Emre Can partly defended his coach. “We just made too many mistakes,” said the 29-year-old. It is simply the crucial moments that are not on BVB’s side. “It’s not always the coach’s fault. It has nothing to do with the coach if the ball hits the crossbar,” emphasized Can when asked about it on the pay-TV channel “Sky”.

There was disillusionment in the Transfermarkt community after the game against Mainz. User “Haase,” for example, wrote: “That must have been the knockout for Edin today. As much as I like him as a guy, today was a revelation. Sure, it’s not the best squad in recent years, but you still have to get more out of this team than two points against Augsburg and Mainz.” And “shax9r” said: “The dismissal of the coach is unavoidable and I would really be surprised if you doesn’t make the cut now for the winter break. I hope that stubborn Watzke will now recognize that too.”

So now they are one point worse than after the 16th matchday of the previous season, with also a meager goal difference. The last time they were worse was in the 17/18 season (25 points), but with a better goal difference and without the competition outside of Bayern having already gotten away from them. Back then, Bosz had to leave after just 6 months. Let’s see what happens to Terzic now. This could still be an interesting winter break. …

Meanwhile, user “Neeza” made a frustrated conclusion before the winter break: “So now we are one point worse than after the 16th matchday of the previous season, with also a meager goal difference. The last time they were worse was in the 17/18 season (25 points), but with a better goal difference and without the competition away from Bayern having already eluded them.
