The man from Erp who was arrested last week on suspicion of a terrorist crime is the 24-year-old Thomas D., reports the extreme right-wing youth organization De Geuzenbond on Instagram. Thomas D. would be the foreman of that club.

Last Thursday Thomas D. was arrested in Badhoevedorp. The arrest followed after an office report from the AIVD. It stated that the man would be willing to commit right-wing extremist violence and that he was in possession of weapons.

Thomas D. can often be seen on photos and videos of the Geuzenbond on social media. The suspect would be the foreman of the right-wing extremist youth organization. According to De Marker, he was recently present at a demonstration against the arrival of a Youth Azc in Helmond. PVV leader Geert Wilders, among others, spoke during that demonstration.

Right-wing
For the arrest, the police raided a former restaurant in Erp, where forbidden weapons and ammunition were found. Later it turned out that the building was used as a clubhouse for the extreme right -wing Geuzenbond.

The National Coordinator for the fight against Terrorism and Security (NCTV) has classified the Geuzenbond as a so -called ‘Active Club. ‘ Such clubs try to normalize right-wing extremist ideas and focus on ‘making the white breed resilient’ through physical training. The organization is active both online and through demonstrations.

In the message on Instagram, the Geuzenbond announced ‘not to believe for a second that Thomas prepared to commit violence in any way’. They emphasize to be an organization that has always rejected the use of political violence and wishes to influence the public debate in a peaceful way through activism. ”

Suspended from student association
Thomas D. would also have been a member of the Nijmegen student association GNSV, reported Omroep Gelderland. The Great-Dutch Student Association (GNSV) maintained close contacts with various right-wing extremist clubs, including the Geuzenbond.

Earlier this week, the GNSV announced in a press release that it had suspended Thomas D. as a member of the association. The association has also withdrawn from the introduction week of Radboud University, which is taking place this week.
