Tennis: Novak Djokovic imitates tennis greats

Grand Slam record winner Novak Djokovic is in top form ahead of the US Open. With the victory against Carlos Alcaraz at the Masters in Cincinnati behind him, the Serb was able to take things a little easier in the preparation. In a training session in New York, the 36-year-old caused great amusement when he imitated several tennis greats. The audience loved it.

Novak Djokovic arrived in Flushing Meadows in a good mood. Before the start of the US Open next Monday, the tennis superstar gave the entertainer in training and imitated some of the greats of the sport for the numerous fans who came – one of Djokovic’s popular numbers, which he has shown his audience again and again for years.

And so the fans in the packed Arthur Ashe Stadium got a taste of Maria Sharapova’s serving routine, garnished with a high-pitched scream.

Djokovic even responded to the wishes of the fans, after which he imitated tennis icon John McEnroe. “You can’t be serious!” Shouted Djokovic, referring to McEnroe’s outburst at Wimbledon in 1981 – the audience cheered.

New tennis “bromance” between Kyrgios and Djokovic

His coach Goran Ivanisevic and the Australian Nick Kyrgios also got their fat off. Visibly amused, Djokovic kept adjusting his T-shirt in Kyrgios style.

When he saw the scenes on Instagram a little later, Kygrios also had to laugh. “Hahaha that’s really funny,” he wrote in his story.

The two tennis stars had maintained a rather icy relationship with each other for years. Meanwhile, Kyrgios and Djokovic get along better with each other. Around the Wimbledon final of 2022, when both faced each other for the first time on the very largest stage, they paid respect to each other. “We’re having a little bromance now,” the Australian said at a press conference at the time.
