Roger Federer is actually already tennis pensioner. But soon his fans can see the Swiss on the pitch again.
Tennis legend Roger Federer returns to the pitch for a show match. As the 44-year-old Swiss announced, he will take part in the “Roger Federer and Friends Celebrity Doubles Match” as part of the Shanghai Masters on October 10th. It is a show double with well-known Chinese actors and athletes.
In September 2022, Federer ended his successful professional career, during which he won 103 tournaments, including 20 Grand Slam titles, won 310 weeks at the top of the world rankings and set up numerous records. Already last year he played a show match in Shanghai.
This year, Federer will be on the pitch
In a video that he spread on his social media profiles, Federer said: “I am very happy to return to the Qizhong Stadium. Shanghai has always been a special place for me, with incredible fans, unforgettable memories and a real love for the game.”
During his active career, Federer won the tournament in Shanghai in 2014 and 2017. Above all, Federer and the tournament combine a luxury watch brand that appears both as a personal sponsor of Federers and as the main sponsor of the tournament in Shanghai.
