Ten Telstar succumb in injury time against VVV-Venlo

Telstar seemed to be on its way to the first point of the season for a long time tonight. Jayden Turfkruier scored the 1-0 against VVV-Venlo in the 14th minute and Pepijn Doesburg equalized halfway through the second half. After a short strike, things went wrong again at the end of the party. Mees Kaandorp was sent off, after which Martijn Berden helped the Limburgers win in the 94th minute: 1-2.

In a tropical Velsen-Zuid (28 degrees), Telstar had to leave the first pinprick to the visitors from Limburg. Mitch Apau made a mistake, causing Magnus Kaastrup to shoot over the goal. The White Lions then grabbed VVV by the throat and did not let go in the first half. Zakaria Eddahchouri, one of the guns in the front, played well and passed the ball to Jayden Turfkruier who shot impeccably. For the first time this season, Telstar took the lead.

Base locations Gravenberch, Polley and Plat

Newcomer Danzell Gravenberch, who, like Alex Plat and Ropbin Polley, started in the starting line-up for the first time, created two gigantic chances after that 1-0. Both options were almost identical: the bulky striker received the ball with his back to the goal, broke free and shot straight at goalkeeper Jan de Boer.

Between these options, VVV thought it could make things right. A long shot from Simon Janssen released Joey Houweling (the replacement for the injured Ronald Koeman Jr.) and Levi Smans pushed the ball over the line. He committed a foul on Houweling, which allowed Telstar to escape. Eddahchouri (on the post) and substitute Quinten van den Heerik (who replaced Gravenberch who had to drop out due to an injury) were still dangerous, but the score remained 1-0.

After the break, it was VVV that came out of the dressing room feeling fresher. That did not lead to many great opportunities. Only a shot from Michalis Kosidis caused danger and ended up as a corner kick. Telstar’s first opportunity came via Eddahchouri. Initially, a free kick went into the wall and the rebound ended up on De Boer’s fists. Telstar seemed to have most of the Limburgers’ danger under control, but nothing turned out to be further from the truth. Robin Lathouwers (former Jong AZ player) was given plenty of room to get started. He first shot at Houweling, but Pepijn Doesburg tapped in the rebound: 1-1,

Discontinued again

Because – just like against Cambuur – a cup of beer ended up on the field, the match was stopped for six minutes. In the final phase, Mees Kaandorp received two yellow cards in quick succession, meaning Telstar had to finish the final minutes with ten men. Van den Heerik gave the Velsen team a huge chance to make it 2-1, but his shot was blocked. In injury time, Martijn Berden gave Telstar a hangover by making it 1-2 on the other side of the field.

After five games, winless Telstar occupies the last place in the first division. Young Ajax also has no points yet, but the Amsterdam promises played one match less.
